Saltfish n Bakes

The short film documentary Tide of Change - the Carenage! was the directorial debut for Saltfish n Bakes, which has now been followed up by Welcome to Carriacou, a project now in the early stages of production.

Welcome to Carriacou shows the aftermath and impact of Hurricane Beryl on one of the island's neighbourhoods L'Esterre. The original project was to explore the traditional skills of boatbuilders in that community, but this changed with the recent weather events determining how the script unfolded. This film shows endearing members of the community sharing their experiences as they build back their lives, with the same energy and warm spirit that was witnessed when the boatbuilders invited me to film them just months before Beryl's destruction.
